Mia's Authentic Italian Food

“Italian food” that most American restaurants serve today is not quite as Italian as you may think. In fact, what Americans consider Italian food would baffle someone from Italy. With so many people migrating to America over the years, Italian food has embedded itself into the American cuisine. Yet, there are only a few places in the country today that serve authentic Italian delicacies. For example, spaghetti with meatballs is a classic choice for most diners in America, but in Italy, it is unheard of. Some parts of southern Italy serve a dish called Polpettine sauce which is tiny meatballs cooked in tomato sauce and baked between layers of pasta. This is as far as Italians get to spaghetti with meatballs. Italy is home to a rich food culture.
